Why Are You Blue?

by a young woman, age 15

Why are you blue?
Wake up, please pull through.
Things happen so fast.
Jayson, do CPR.
Call 911.
Go outside, help Annie.
Ambulance arrives.
Thinking: I’m never
Doing heroin.

Face all one color,
Eyes glazed over.
The thought:
She’s dead.

Feel to cry, but couldn’t.
Matthew holding me
While we talk to the police.
