I Am Old and New
by Johan
I feel old when I can’t wake myself on a heavy morning
I feel new when I can see the rose, blue, orange sky
I feel old when my problems outpace me lap by lap by lap
I feel new when I run with lungs open wide and strong
I feel old when you shoot me every question and I miss every answer
I feel new when we play gentle and quick
To be new is impossible when I grip the hand of each skeleton of regret
To be new is possible when I watch you watch me, freely
