What If?

by a young woman, age 15

What if alcohol and drugs never existed?
Parents would actually be there for their kids.

What if there was no such thing as hurt?
You would be happy all the time.

What if there were enough homes for everybody?
Kids wouldn’t get stuck in facilities waiting for
A foster home.

What if there was no such thing as testing?
Kids would actually want to come to school.

What if monkeys were pets?
There would not be enough bananas to feed them all.

What if names didn’t exist, what would you call people?
“Hey you, will you come here?”

What if there was no such thing as a president?
People could run their own life.

What if there was actually a pot of gold
At the end of the rainbow?
Leprechauns would end up on welfare.
