Programs on the Pongo Model
This section will feature information and sample poems from some programs that were founded on the Pongo model.
The first program that was founded on the Pongo model is a wonderful writing group at FRIENDS OF THE CHILDREN, KING COUNTY. Their work is described in the Feb 27, 2010, post on Pongo's Project Journal. The youth call their group "Hearts Out Loud," and I had the privilege to attend the first "Hearts Out Loud" poetry slam.
I'd like to honor the poets, with links to several sample poems, below (though all of the writing was great!!!). I'd also like to honor the staff and volunteers by listing their names.
