Perfectionism

by a young woman, age 14

I realize now that perfectionism is not the root to contentment.
If you will,
Imagine the emanating possibilities of never making a mistake,
The mistakes that form you,
That give to you,
Taking in the moment,
Yet giving  more than what was originally taken.
Lessons and knowledge is only accidental,
And it’s crucial that the world keeps messing up,
So you can keep looking up.
Imagine the feelings you’d never have,
The basic experiences you would miss.
So that next time you slip,
You won’t really fall.
You can only prepare for the inevitable,
Can only realize now that perfectionism is not the root to
Contentment.
