Papa

by a young woman, age 13

In my ocean you were a dolphin,
because you made me jump with joy.
In my cookie you were a chocolate chip,
because you were so sweet and nice.
In my grassy field you were the grass,
because you were short and fun.
In my song you were the lyrics,
because you always knew what to say.
In my galaxy you were a shooting star,
because you were so rare.
In my heart you were my blood,
because you were very important to me.
I will always remember our good times,
but I will always regret not giving you one last hug and kiss goodbye.
This is what you meant to me.
I only wish I would've told you sooner.
