Living Forever

by a young man, age 15

I live with my Grandma and Grandpa
because my mom and dad are in prison.

My Grandma is really protective.
She watches the news a lot
and is afraid that I am going to be on the news next.

I have this theory that I am going to live forever.
Grandma knows it’s not true,
but I keep it in the back of my head just in case.

When I was ten years old,
I had this dream that someone was trying to kill me,
but I just responded at the hospital.
Look:
So, me and friends stole this car,
and we got into a crash.
My head hit the dashboard.
I was looking down at the concrete.
No bruises, no scratches, no nothing.
The car was totaled.
Kids in the car had blood coming from the side of their heads,
broken arms, dislocated shoulders,
but I was fine.

My Grandma prays for me every time I leave the house.
I don’t really take it for granted.
But it just seems normal to me.

I have this theory that I am going to live forever.
