For You

by a young woman, age 13

In my ocean you are coral
because in my head you are the moral of the story I can’t explain.

In my grassy field you are a dragonfly
because you’ve earned your wings to me.

In my galaxy you are The Milky Way—
an amusement to the human eye.

In my veins you are a pulse
that keeps the existence of my heart.
