Can You Imagine

by a young woman, age 15

When I drive by I see mass murder people crying children dying.

When I drive by I see parents caring and children sharing.

When I drive by I see my friends going down the wrong path.

When I drive by I see people going to jail.

When I drive by I see a love a lost love I see people looking for love some in the right places some not.

When I drive by I see me I see me getting in and out of trouble I see me in this hospital a place where people and kids go to get help I see my life changing I don’t always want it to change but it does and it feels good.

When I drive by I see people getting into drugs consequently leading some into prostitution just like me.

I see people cutting and I see men hitting on women.

I see girls and boys getting into gangs carrying guns and getting STDs.

When I drive by I feel angry and violated by what I see I hear screams of many people hurting and not knowing what to do I feel disrespected even when it is not me.

When I drive by when I drive by I hope this ends in world peace.
