Another Child With Nothing

by a young man, age 16

I no longer feel.
I no longer cry.
I pray for a meal,
And wonder why.

I'm beat for noise.
I'm full of hurt.
I have no toys,
Or more than one shirt.

You call me a brat.
You call me a weasel.
You treat me like a cat,
And your love is evil.

I watch my friends.
They have it all.
Mercedes Benz,
And they stand real tall.

I no longer feel.
I no longer cry.
I pray for a meal,
And wonder why.

You're not my dad.
You're not my mother.
You say I'm bad,
And you hate each other.

I close my eyes,
And pray to the stars.
I wish I could die,
While you're at the bars.

There is no heaven.
There's only hell.
I'm only seven,
But you can hardly tell.

I no longer feel.
I no longer cry.
I pray for a meal,
And wonder why.
